Website ‘Contact’ button
You personal information submitted via the Contact button on this site is not stored by the hosts. It is for MTTH correspondence between yourselves and me. I only retain this information if you choose to accept my services and will do so for the period we are working together and up to 7 years. If you choose not to continue with MTTH services and you have stated this clearly in your final correspondence, I will only retain the information you provided for two weeks and it is then deleted.
The information you supply via the contact page will not be used for marketing purposes nor shared with third parties unless I am required to do so by law. I use the Gmail server when responding to enquiries. Gmail encrypts messages which is said to prevent emails being intercepted by third parties. Please note that sending information by email isn’t 100% guaranteed secure by any service provider therefore the level of personal information you choose to place in an email is done so at your own risk.

What personal details do I collect?
If you decide that you wish to embark on your therapeutic journey with me, below is the type of information that I will collect:
Age and date of birth
Dates and times of appointments
Emergency Contact information
All the above will be stored electronically on a secure password protected device and retained for a maximum of 7 years. Additionally, the following information is recorded in written client notes and / or assessment, in order to facilitate the therapy process:
Details of the problems and issues for which you are seeking therapy
Relevant factual information that is discussed in the therapy process
This is also retained for at least 7 years to enable us to deal with any queries or complaints that may arise and is also required by the insurer. Brief therapist’s notes are archived and are also kept electronically and secured by passwords on a detachable hard drive device which is kept in a secure location within the property which is also protected by CCTV.
Legal Duty of Care
It may become necessary during our work together for me to break confidentiality for several reasons including: safeguarding reasons (children and vulnerable adults), serious harm to self or others, and breaches in the law such as acts of terrorism or drug or people trafficking and money laundering for example. The personal data shared will be adequate and proportionate. Your information may be shared with health professionals & emergency services as appropriate.
Therapeutic Will - In the event of my death or inability to work, a nominated individual will pass a sealed envelope from a secure location only known by them, containing a first name and contact number of current clients to my clinical supervisor. This enables the supervisor to make contact, present the circumstances and discuss confidentially counselling options going forward to maintain your safety and privacy. The clinical supervisor is bound by the same confidentiality criteria.
There may be a required to share some clinical information if a court order is presented. This is also re-iterated in the contract you will sign should you go ahead with therapy at MTTH. Anonymous notes from our sessions are kept in line with the requirements of my insurance and the Limitation Act - Special category data 9 “(f) processing is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or whenever courts are acting in their judicial capacity”.
I am required to keep financial records for the purpose of tax returns for 7 years.
By giving consent, you give me permission to share your notes and / or information with other medical professionals or your legal representative should there be a need to do so. If this is required, a careful thoughtful discussion will be had together. If in the event of a medical emergency whilst in actual therapy, I will aim to act with your best interest at heart.
How do I store your information?
If you choose to continue with counselling, I will take all reasonable and proportionate security measures to secure your information. I keep anonymous client notes separately from personal data information for 7 years from the date of your last session, in line with the requirements of my professional insurance. All information is stored as confidential data in password protected electronic documents on a removable hard drive that is kept in a safe location and deleted at the end of the data retention period.
Do we use any computing devices?
Yes. I use an electronic devices and applications for calendar, diary entries, contacts, email and notes. I use Sum Up and Banking Apps to process payments via an electronic handheld device.
MTTH does not currently have a presence on social media. However, as an individual, I have personal social media accounts for which I do not accept friend requests or invitations from clients. If I share, like or comment on other people’s or organisations post or pages, I do this in an individual capacity. This information will not be used for commercial purposes nor will there be an identity to clients with which I work.
